Summer 2024
This summer, please join us for two family-friendly “Music in the Park” mini-concerts featuring local Bay Area bands at Redwood Heights Park. Enjoy spending time with friends and family outdoors for a little music before sunset. Better yet, come a little early and enjoy a picnic!
The Orphans
Friday, July 12, 2024
6:30 PM
The Orphans are based right here in Oakland. They are a trio of fine musicians who are steeped in what is now known as Americana. They will play a variety of blues, country, and soul sounds. Hank Williams, BB King, zydeco, Elmore James, etc., as well as many original songs in this vein, along with some groovy, danceable style blues and old RnB. On occasion, they will throw in some early country Blues for fun. Jon Lawton on guitar and vocals, Joe Kyle on bass, and Scott Griffin on drums make for a fantastic musical journey called The Orphans.

Rocky Leonard Band
Friday, July 26, 2024
6:30 PM
Oakland’s Gen Z locals are in for a treat this month as Rocky Leonard and her band will perform at RHA’s Music in the Park on July 26, with native son and O’Dowd ’20 alum Skyler Phillips on lead guitar. Leonard, a 22-year-old singer-songwriter from Houston, blends diverse cultural influences of Southern church and charm into Neo-soul, R&B, and rock, with mesmerizing vocals and electric performances reminiscent of Beyoncé early 2000s and late 70sChaka Khan. The band, which formed through Loyola New Orleans’ music program, is now making waves with gigs on both coasts. You won’t want to miss this soulful, funky, all-ages dance party.
