Music in the Park: Free Outdoor Concerts for the Community
Music in the Park is a cherished summer tradition hosted by the Redwood Heights Association, welcoming neighbors from across Oakland and beyond to enjoy free, live outdoor concerts in a relaxed and family-friendly setting. Held a few times each summer at Redwood Heights Park, each event features talented local musicians performing a range of genres—from soul and funk to rock, jazz, and more.
Bring a picnic, grab a blanket or lawn chair, and settle in for an evening of music, connection, and community spirit. With plenty of open space, a casual vibe, and great local talent, Music in the Park is a joyful way to enjoy summer evenings in Oakland, fostering connections with people and creating a vibrant, welcoming community.
Summer/Fall 2026
Join us this summer for two fun, family-friendly Music in the Park mini-concerts at Redwood Heights Park, featuring live performances by local Bay Area acts. The first event will happen on September 12th, and the other on October 3rd.

Trio Sin Lio
🎶 A High-Energy Mix of Latin Dance Music 🎶
Trio Sin Lio is an Oakland-based Latin music group featuring veteran musicians from the Bay Area, performing energizing music with dynamic percussion and string arrangements. The band’s literal translation is “Trio without a mess”, a playful nod to being a tight, compact, nimble & easygoing group while delivering a big jamming sound.
Camilo Landau’s tres guitar (a Cuban, guitar-like chordophone) gives a bright, percussive sound and provides the rhythmic and harmonic heart of their music. Landau, celebrated locally for his larger band Camilo y Los Cruzers, in sync with Omar Ledezma, Jr’s vocals and percussion and David Belove’s bass vibes, delivers a vibrant mix of rocking son, salsa, boogaloo, merengue, and post-Latin psychedelic jams that blend the energy of a full salsa orchestra to get you moving and drive you to the dance floor.

Oakland vocalist Suzanna Smith has spent years performing across the Bay Area, building a devoted following with a style that is hard to pin down and easy to enjoy. She moves between jazz standards, swing, and her own original songs in a way that feels less like a setlist and more like a conversation.
Her performances are known for their warmth and connection. She shares stories between songs, engages with the audience, and creates an atmosphere that welcomes both longtime jazz fans and people simply looking to enjoy live music on a summer evening.
For this free outdoor concert, expect a mix of familiar standards and original compositions, delivered with the relaxed confidence that comes from years of performing and songwriting. No stiff formality, just great live music, good company, and an evening in the park.

Is this event free?
Yes! Music in the Park is free and open to all.
Do I need to register?
Registration isn’t required, but we encourage RSVPs so we can plan accordingly. (Registration links coming soon!)
What should I bring?
Feel free to bring a picnic, blanket, lawn chair, and anything else you need to enjoy a relaxing evening outdoors. Please leave alcohol at home, as it’s not permitted in Redwood Heights Park.
Are dogs allowed?
We love dogs. Really, we do. But Redwood Heights Park is a space where kids run, roll, and play, and families spread out blankets and relax on the grass.
No one wants to step in dog poop while enjoying time at the park.
To help keep the park clean and safe for everyone, dogs are not allowed in the park, per Oakland Charter 6.04.080.
