Movies in the Park at Redwood Heights Recreation Center

Movie projectorEvery summer, the Recreation Center hosts several movies in the park at 3883 Aliso Ave. in Oakland. It's a low-key affair, bring your chair, a blanket, and bug spray. Movies begin at dusk on the lawn outside the recreation center.   Popcorn and hot chocolate are available for sale, and proceeds support scholarships for the center's after-school programs and summer camp. This is a great community event!

Unlike in years past, movie licensing fees are now required. RHA is helping out the Rec Center by collecting donations to enable this great event to continue in the future. We need about $400 more to have four movies this summer.

Smallfoot - An animated adventure for all ages, with original music and an all-star cast, “Smallfoot” turns the Bigfoot legend upside down when a bright young Yeti (Channing Tatum) finds something he thought didn’t exist—a human. News of this “smallfoot” (James Corden) brings him fame and a chance with the girl of his dreams. It also throws the simple Yeti community into an uproar over what else might be out there in the big world beyond their snowy village, in a rollicking story about friendship, courage and the joy of discovery.
